Update from Mr. Dailey - Nov 8, 2022

Hello Band Families!

I just want to give a huge THANK YOU for all of the help and support this past marching season. I am so incredibly grateful for the community we have in the band and with the band families, and how everyone really came through to give help, time, and energy to our common goal of giving the students a wonderful band experience. The pride of the school and staff after the students broke a school record with a 9th place finish and a score of 78.3 is huge. These students have really put a lot of effort into this season and I think it paid off! Next year we will be able to build upon this success and continue to strive for excellence and showmanship in our new marching show, whatever it may be. I can’t wait to celebrate this season on Thursday with all of you!

Now, we are onto concert band music! The students have been hard at work starting to prepare for the Winter Concert which is on December 8th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. Jazz Bands will have their concert December 13th at 6:30 pm. It’s a little earlier start time to help accommodate for finals week. Here’s what else is coming up:

11/8 Winter Guard Meeting- 7:00 pm- Auditorium

To kick off the season, DJ is going to be running a meeting tonight at 7 pm in the auditorium going over logistics, volunteering, and some fundraising opportunities. If you’re not able to make it, please reach out to DJ Stevens at djstevens.ehs@gmail.com. The entire rehearsal calendar can be found at HorizonHawksBands.Org under the calendar tab.

Winter Percussion- 5:00-8:00 pm

Our first winter percussion season is going to start tonight in the band room from 5-8 pm! It’s a non competitive group, but focused on learning a fun show that will help our percussionists improve on top of the work they are doing in the concert season. Calendar can also be found on the band website.

11/10 Band Banquet at 6:00 pm- HHS Student Center

Thursday, November 10th is going to be our Marching Band Celebration!
