Band Camp Week is Here!

Good afternoon Hawk Families!

I cannot believe that we are about to kick off another Hawk Marching season, but it is here! I am so excited to see what the students learn and put together this season. It all kicks off this week. Band camp begins Monday (tomorrow!) and goes through Friday. Your student should be at the school ready to get started by 8am and will be finished at 5pm each day. It is supposed to be HOT at the beginning of the week, so it is VERY important that your student has a water bottle, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We will have jugs of water for them to refill their water bottles. Other things your student needs include tennis shoes, their instrument or color guard equipment, their music, a pencil and a positive attitude. Please make sure they get some good sleep and have breakfast before they come.

On Friday we get to come together and celebrate what the students have accomplished during the week at our Show N' Tell. The students will perform for us parents, we will hold our fist band parenting meeting of the season, and we will have dinner together. Each section will be asked to bring something to share for our dinner (ie side dish, chips, desert) and the Band Parents Association will provide sub sandwiches. Please plan on attending, it is always great to see the kids perform and we will be sharing information about the upcoming season. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for volunteer positions and pay your student's band fees. The Show N' Tell begins at 5pm.

If your student is working on a design for our new stickers, make sure they get submitted to Mr. Dailey by Thursday. We would love to see a design for the band and for the color guard, these stickers will then be available for purchase to show our Hawk Pride!

Band fees this year will be $350 per student. This money, along with other funds raised, help to ensure that the students get great instruction, music, drill, are able to play at competitions, and so much more! You can pay by check, or this year by venmo @horizonbandparents. If your student is new, or you are not able to find your students account information, Nikole, our treasurer will have account balances at the Show N' Tell, or you can email her at hhsbpatreasurer@gmail.com.

There are still openings available to work the Fun Services fundraiser on August 27 from 10:45am - 3:00pm, see the Sign up Genius if interested, this is a great way to raise money for your students account.

A sign up genius has been sent out about our upcoming Music & Arts training. If you are able to attend, and are 18 years old or older please sign up, this money helps us to purchase new instruments, it is easy and a great way to help the band.

Lastly, we are kicking off our peach fundraiser! This is a fast and furious fundraiser, we need orders in by Friday. We have 250 boxes of peaches available for us. Each box is $50 for 20 lbs of delicious Palisade peaches! The proceeds of each box sold is $12. This fundraiser is a 60/40 split (60% percent goes to your student, roughly $7/box and 40% goes to the general fund). These peaches will be coming from Z' Orchard, they have provided us with peaches for several years, they have yet to disappoint. Here is the link to the order form:

Sorry for the lengthy email, they should get shorter as the year progresses 🙂

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out, I will try my hardest to respond in a timely fashion. Thank you all for your support to the band, it takes a village to make the marching season a success!
